- Baker Tilly International will have a powerful, attractive and contemporary global website that effectively positions your business.
- There will be a seamless brand experience for build-and-host network firms.
- The back-end solution will be simple enough that all firms can update content simply and quickly.
- The user experience will be intuitive across borders, with language and translation options and appropriate accessibility.
- Management of the project will be clear, efficient and cost-effective.
- The end solution will be robust, secure and fit for the future.
Achieving these goals will allow Baker Tilly International and its member firms to focus on telling the compelling story of your accounting, advisory, audit and assurance expertise — not worrying about the limitations of a website.
We have a vision for this project:

The project is split into eight phases, some of which will overlap.
We have developed a tightly integrated and agile process designed for premium results and reduced friction.
The discovery and strategy phase ensures strategic alignment and project clarity and is critical for a successful project.
It will include a baseline data review of your existing architecture, build-and-host structure, traffic, content and use of technology. This will inform the design and structure decisions for the new global website and act as a baseline for future development.
We will conduct a series of workshops in London to extract the insights needed to inform the website architecture, design and delivery process.
We will combine data and insights to deliver a comprehensive global website strategy outlining findings, timelines, responsibilities, and approach, as well as an implementation plan for the roll-out of the build-and-host sites.
Discovery
and strategy
March-April (5 weeks)
We bring together strategic, creative and technical expertise to help Baker Tilly International create compelling and beautiful digital assets. Hover to view different themes
The second stage sees the development of a custom, flexible and robust design theme that will deliver on your goals for functionality, user experience and design.
This theme will unify the build-and-host network, aligning firms visually and ensuring brand compliance.
We use an agile process that starts with wireframing the home page, providing two concepts, on a platform that lets us quickly prototype solutions and define the page structure. Once home page wireframes are agreed, we design the home page and start the process again with key internal pages and secondary internal pages.
This flexible and expansive theme will be applied across the build-and-host sites, with a library of useful and simple templates for firms seeking customisation, as well as a clear guide to on-brand use.
Theme design
May – June (6 weeks)
Once designs are approved, our next step is to code the website to create a highly configured and bespoke site hosted on WordPress.
WordPress is recognised as one of the most flexible and accessible CMS available and a configured WordPress site is unique, robust and secure.
The CMS is simple for users to learn, which increases the ability of member firms to keep their sites active and relevant for local markets, while reducing the cost of any external support that might be required.
The theme will become the backbone of the 56 build-and-host websites, allowing flexibility, adaptability and consistency.
Each will be configured with its own WordPress installation housed within a multisite framework. This allows for seamless content syndication while enabling a secure, multi-level permissions structure.

June – September (12 weeks)
Baker Tilly International website
All build-and-host sites will receive a content inventory to allow them to review, update and upload content in a staging environment.
Migration of content to the staging environment is not complex but we have set a separate package price based on the complexity of the migrations for those firms that need support.
We can also provide a price on request for difficult migrations, which might include rewriting content in languages other than English or the introduction of substantial new content.
Build-and-host websites
The Baker Tilly International website has several key sections, which are likely to be reviewed in the context of this project. We have included an allowance to review and rewrite content on up to 20 pages on the global site as part of our package price.
Cannings Purple will work directly with Global Office and the communications team to establish key messages for each section, confirm or rewrite content, and upload this to the staging environment ready for launch.
Given the scale of the content to be considered, this phase will run concurrently with website development. We have also split this approach between the global website and the build-and-host sites.
Content
Development
June – September (12 weeks)
To ensure an accurate, shared and synchronised global directory, we need to develop a solution that will synchronise details of Baker Tilly International offices — and potentially a select group of Baker Tilly leaders — in a centrally hosted tool that is shared across sites.
This requires configuring the website to align with Azure Active Directory as well as confirmation of the level of searchability and functionality you require.
This process will be informed by the workshops held in the initial discovery phase.
Global directory development
July – September (6 weeks)
We are conscious that Baker Tilly needs to find a solution from September, so we now bring together the content, theme development and global directory development in a single staging environment.
The pre-launch Baker Tilly International website will sit on a staging platform that will look and function in the same way as the final website, which provides you an opportunity for thorough user testing and feedback.
Following the staging review, we will conduct thorough user acceptance testing (UAT) and compliance testing against accessibility tools, cross-platform testing across top devices, and browser testing across top browsers.
Once we receive final sign off and pass UAT, we apply a comprehensive go-live checklist to check forms, finalise settings for launch, implement SSL, apply security protocols and monitor the go-live.
Launch of global
office website
August-September (3 weeks)
We recommend launching the Baker Tilly International website first, testing and iterating, before proceeding with the roll-out of the build-and-host network.
Following the launch and stabilisation of the global website we will proceed with an agreed schedule for delivering the 56 build-and-host websites, and will seek to deliver these within four months to coincide with the renewal of host agreements in January.
We will prioritise the roll-out in consultation with the Global Office team and with reference to the complexity of the content transfer.
Build-and-host implementation
October–January 2024
To support the effective use and adoption of the new website Cannings Purple will develop a tailored training package that can be hosted through Billy for Build-and-Host website users.
This will be a self-paced, online learning package with distinct components, including:
How to access the staging environment for your new Baker Tilly website
How to update or change content on your website, including images
How to create and publish content on the website using modules/templates
How to improve the search engine optimisation of your content on your website
How to improve the speed, accessibility and functionality of your website.
Provision of ad-hoc support (up to service level agreements) is included in the ongoing maintenance component of this project.
